My name is Karen. I live in a very small town in Indiana. I am a special services math teacher. I have 2 kids, both pretty well grown. Brian will be 24 in August and Cari just turned 21 this month. I am recently divorced (not by choice) and I really don't like it. I have been teaching for 28 years. I hope to retire in the next 5-7 years if I last that long. I love quilting. I started out hand piecing and hand quilting. But then I had to get a top done in a hurry for a gift so I machine pieced it. That is definitely the way to go. I still like to hand piece when I have time. I do hand quilt everything. That is the part I like the best. I will post a few pictures of my projects soon.
My son just recently got a new job. He is a pipeline welder for a gas company. He is also about to finish up his degree in welding. The last few years he has had jobs like Circuit City and Lowes which have paid the bills (with a little help from mom) but were of course going nowhere. Then last summer he was up north and out west fighting forest fires. He really enjoyed that. I thought that may be the way he would go but he got this welding job and it was too good to pass up. Thank goodness!!!
My daughter is in college. She is about to start her 3rd year. She will have a BS in Exercise Science. You ask what will she do with a degree in Exercise Science? She will then go on to get her masters in Occupational Therapy. That is another 2-3 years.
Both my kids are the greatest. God really blessed me when he sent them to me. They have been my life line this last year.
I also have 2 brothers and 1 sister. One brother and family and sister and family live very close. The other brother (who has 6 children--ages 1 to 17--his are all the youngest children in our family) lives a couple of hours away. The other 3 of us decided to stop after 2 children. Our oldest 3 are the same age--24--all were born within 1 month of each other. One in July, one in August, and one in September. The other 3 oldest are also pretty close in age. One will be 22 in October, one was 22 in January, and one just turned 21 this month.
That's about all there is to my family. My dad has been gone 17 years but my mom lives nearby. We keep her busy.
I just finished this book. It was fabulous right to the end. read more
